I've got it on the burner right now, boiling it. I'm gonna season it here directly and I'll get a picture. She has it figured for around 200 years.....but she is old

Sweet. My mother in law gave me a little black iron pot several years ago. Perfect size for cookin 4 cups of rice. I use it just about every time I cook.
Belonged to her grandmother.

Thats cool. Nothing like having something with a lil family history behind it. Wonder if it has ever cracked someone over the head. Them ol ladies use to be tough back in the day...

 Re: Christmas in August
True story.....she said a teenage boy came to the house when my uncles were younger (years ago) and said he was there to whip him (over a girl). The arguement got heated and he said he had a gun. She went back in the house, grabbed the fryer and chased back to his car where she smahed his windshield with it.

 Re: Christmas in August
HAHA! Hizz, I knew it. HEHEHE!!! I got one almost identical to that one from my grandmaw. It stays on the stove. Fried bacon in it this morning. Its the perfect size. Bacon, eggs, bisquits, Begneits, fried fish, fried shrimp, cook a roux in it all the time. I swear, it stays on the stove, I clean it and keep it on the back burner.
