 Cast iron oven I loaned a large dutch oven to a brother in-law and got it back looking like shiat.I will have to sandblast it to get all the rust off.What is the best way to season it.24 quart pot.

Re: Cast iron oven Looks like new one.  Threw it in the glass blaster.Heated with rosebud and wiped with Crisco.. Thanks Kook.

Re: Cast iron oven I always filled mine with Wesson Oil, throw in about 6 nutria backstraps and bake at 250 for about 6 hours. Gives everything you cook after that a flavor you can't duplicate any other way

Re: Cast iron oven I put mine in my Green Egg and heat her till she is about to melt. Then grease her up and she is ready for another feast. Just got to keep my wife and the Dawn away from it.

Re: Cast iron oven Cover it in oil (even motor oil will work) and throw it in a fire. Sit by the fire and drink beer all night, next mournin wash it, heat dry it, and season it with vegtable oil.
