Warms the cockles of this marines heart, reminds me of frmr commandant general grey ( retired 93) , that's the true marine spirit , ol chesty would be proud!!!!

I served under Gen. Grey as well. Definitely "old breed" Marines!!!

Meet general grey twice , first time as a lcpl in subic bay, philiphinnes , was stationed there 2 years in marine barracks, got picked to be his driver for the day. Pretty cool actually , he cussed , chewed tobacco, and hit all the marines he liked a good frog lick in the arm . He would promote marines on the spot who had impressed him, I saw this happen 3-4 times that day , he'd made a couple PFC into lances and one lance he promoted to cpl , guy named Murray if memory serves me. Second time was at final Friday parade at 8th and I in august 93' . He and new commandant Gen Mundy pinned my squadmates and myself our gold super squad badges for winning annual marine rifle squad for the year . He always wore his cammies even to trips into senate . He is truly responsible for "every marine is a rifleman" his program that he started after becoming commandant. Old school, old breed warrior. We caught up before the ceremony and I reminded the general I had had the pleasure of driving him around the base and jungle that day back in subic, he laughed and said I remember you son , good job . Well as he passed me after shaking my hand , having just pinned my blouse , he frogged me again ( for the second time) in front of God , country and about 2000 people watching the ceremony , including my parents who were recording on tape . Now imagine I'm at attention , on the parade feild at 8th and I , just got frogged in the arm and he is chuckling the whole way down the line . That's what I remember about general Grey , semper fi

Things got bad , after "Tail Hook" . Not saying that was the direct reason but I remember not being able to make a marine "push" during blue green work-ups . Had a Msgt come let me have it for making a Marine push on the flight deck of the USS Dallas. Hell ... I was platoon Sgt and couldn't bend a s-bird marine. Never liked that damn POG!!

What is frogging?

Frogging/= when someone punches the shit out of your upper arm , it then throbs for hours , hence the term frogging , a way of marines , warriors , alpha males in general to show they like each other , hey your all right , I'm going to punch the shit out of you .
