| Post subject: | What's up from Iraq!!!!!! |
I'm new to the site and I figured what better place to say hi then the military forum. I've been deployed over here to Iraq for about 9 months now. I had been dreaming about getting a mud boat for about 2 years but being that I'm in the military money is always tight. Luckily one day I saw someone was selling an almost brand new GDLT on craigslist. Well, 2 days later and it's sitting in my garage (wife had to drive 200 miles to get it, she was not happy......hehe). I went home on R&R in April and bought a boat to go with the motor. I took it out 6 or 7 times in about 2 weeks (again wife was not thrilled), AND NOW I'M HOOKED. I just found this site about 2 weeks ago and I love it. There is no other forum like it. I just thought I'd stop by and say hi. I should be home in time to kill some ducks this year............ By the way, I live in North Carolina and if anybody is looking for a good hunting buddy, let me know. |

Thanks for all the support guys. We could sure use it over here. Sprig179- I'm at Balad. Life is good here. DeathMetalDukk-I'm stationed at Ft. Bragg and I also live there. I'm not from there though, I'm from the west (Idaho, Oregon, Colorado). Also spent 6 years in San Antonio (army). When I was home on R&R, I took the new boat out to Queens Creek by Jacksonville and did some fishing. I'll be heading that way a lot more often. I hear you got some good ducks, geese and swans up there in Currituck county. We ain't got chit near Ft. Bragg. A whole lotta hunting for very few ducks (woodies and Ringnecks), but I'll be dammed if I'm still not out there every second I can be. |

It's been pretty slow here, rode the marshes today and saw maybe a dozen wood ducks and a few other big ducks, no teal. Last year sucked, I didn't get to go much and nobody was killing anything, a lot of sitting half the day for one bird. Not much for swans or geese either, just been slow. Don't even get the snow geese like we used to. |

Greetings from Coastal SE NC. Drop me a PM and I'll take you redfishing in the spring or summer. I just got back from the Middle East this past spring. God bless, take care, keep your head down, and your powder dry. We just gotta hope for more cold weather to push some divers down from NJ, NY, MD, and VA down here this year. |
