Women do not have the size, strength, and speed to compete with men Not in football, not in combat. Combat is freaking hell. Going face to face with your fellow man, and trying to kill each other is not some freaking gender inclusive happy event. If you lose on the battle field, you lose your life, your lose your way of life, you may lose your family, you may lose your nation.

If women did compete in football, they would have to change the rules. Imagine a female having to go up the middle and getting hit by Kendell Beckwith. The injuries would make football criminal.

If they called, and told you that your son needed to be carried off the battlefield or he would die, and that there were two soldier standing by, and that one would have to rush out under fire, pick your son and his equipment up and carry him back to safety, if they told you that one soldier was male and one was female, which one would you pick to go after you son?

Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester killed several enemy combatants while under attack in Iraq, saving American lives.

Because of her swift heroism, Hester saved the lives of numerous convoy members. Her actions led her to become the first woman since World War II to earn the Silver Star Medal, the third highest award exclusively for valor in combat.

Cpl. MaryBeth Monson maintained the security of her base during an attack by Afghani insurgents disguised as American soldiers.

Why she's impressive: Cpl. MaryBeth Monson was on deployment in Afghanistan when enemy combatants disguised as American soldiers mounted an assault on the base.

Monson kept the personnel calm until security was back up and running and spent 80 hours volunteering to clean up afterwards, even though her unit wasn't assigned to this task.

For her calm in the line of fire and commitment to the efforts of the Marine Corps, Monson was awarded the 2013 USO's Woman of the Year Military Leadership Award. The annual award presented to one woman from each branch of the military is one of the most prestigious given to female servicemembers.

Dguidry, they have already lowered the standards. The women are not required to get a closely cropped haircut. This haircut is for hygiene as well as safety purposes. The had to modify several events, duration of patrols etc to accommodate the female students.

16 of 19 women passed the RPFA this morning. The majority of the female Ranger students are officers and ironically have a track, cross country, or swimming background.

6 pull ups (upon completion of 5 mile run)

Today is the Combat Water Survival Assessment (You fail only if you refuse to conduct the test)

Tomorrow is land navigation (Expect a few failures on land navigation test and retest)

Final major hurdle is the foot mach (35 lb ruck) later in the week.

Historically, 50% of the male students who successfully complete RAP week, graduate and earn the Ranger tab.

I will keep you posted as they progress through RAP week. Once they enter the patrolling phase, I will be able to update you at the end of each phase after the boards are completed.

Spec. Ashley Pullen saved the life of a squad member by shielding him with her own body while under attack.

Why she's impressive: Ashley Pullen, a Humvee driver, saved a fellow squad member's life when her convoy came under attack in Baghdad. She treated the injured squad member's stomach wound and even shielded him with her own body to protect him from further blasts. She then helped transport wounded soldiers to a makeshift landing zone for evacuation by helicopters.

Pullen was awarded a Bronze Star with Valor distinguishing device for her heroism on that day.

Margaret Woodward commanded the entire U.S. air campaign in Libya during Operation Odyssey Dawn.

Today, the Major General holds the very important role as Director of the Air Force Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) in Washington, D.C. Her office is the single point of accountability and oversight for sexual assault policy matters, and she reports directly to the Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force.

Well to be quite honest with you, dguidry, Big Army's expectation of the number of women to take advantage of this one time event, has been disappointing. They expected about 80 women. Numbers extremely low. If statistical norms lay out, by the time the course ends, at best 6 women candidates will earn the Ranger Tab.

Statistical norms (males) for each cycle

19 started RAP week
15-20% fail initial RPFA (3 failed for 15% of the candidates)
65% of all students who start RAP week will complete ALL of RAP week events (12 women will move on to patrol phase)
50% of all Ranger students who complete RAP week events earn the Ranger tab


So what we do not know is how this plays out.

If it cost ten million to send 100 women to ranger school, and if only one graduated, libs and feminist will ignore that it is an absolute failure statistically, and then demand that all combat arms units and school to include special operations units be restructured to accept females.

I find it interesting that the Army had to hand select the 20 females that have colligate running and swimming backgrounds.

I find it equally interesting that they started the females in Ranger School during the month of April. I am betting statistically there is no better time concerning the intense heat Fort Benning gets, and they will not get any of the extreme cold in mountain phase.

I would hate to be an officer or NCO assigned to Army Ranger School right now. The PC police will be out in full force just looking to burn someone and destroy careers. No one will want to be that one instructor that failed one of the female rangers, and have to stand on the carpet and get accused of sexism or SHAPR violation.

rangerp, you are spot on. They chose April for several reasons. As you know, statistically the highest completion rates for Ranger school is those students who start Ranger School is March and October. The worst being JAN and AUG (no class starts in December). However, the reason they did not start in March is due to the start of the Best Ranger competition. As you know, RTB goes through a cycle break after the March class, to host BRC at Benning. The cycle break is apx six weeks. So if the female students were to recycle any of the phases, they'd be sitting there pulling details, contemplating quitting, etc. Now the cycles are back to back starts so there is minimum time between cycles if one gets recycled.

Now on the surface, no standards have been lowered….read between the lines on this one….The standards in the accommodations to facilitate them is what has changed…For those who have never gone through Ranger School don't understand and say, well females have been in combat the last 13 years….Que dguidry comments here….What he does not understand is duration of the FTX, personal hygiene or lack of, patrol base procedures, lack of latrines in the mountains, of GA, swamps in FL….Medical checks etc. Now they had to bring in female medics just to do the end of cycle medical checks. No more stinky zzz drop your drawers and check for cellulitis, poison ivy, ball sack checks etc. And new RIs always wondered why people were laughing at them as they ate their lunch or dinner on the tables at the Darby dome!!!!! Smelly zzz everywhere!

I think Mudweiser and RangerPP are saying that women don't shit well in the mountains and the woods. I personally wouldn't know what it's like not to take a shower for more than three or four days (duck hunting season). Are these "female" issues a real lag on combat effectiveness? Educate me.

And Shannon Faulkner, the female that forced her way into the Corp of Cadets at the Citadel (Military College of South Carolina) in Charleston only to drop out after she determined she couldn't cut it.
