He and I were instrumental in obtaining legal precedent requiring the use of interpreters for Cajun Americans who spoke French and broken English. We were declared a protected class entitled to special treatment in the courts so that they could have fair access to our system of justice.

I just got finished watching the Rant on KATC. Not one person seemed to agree with your podnah. The general consensus was he needs to turn the radio off or get a life.

My personal view on it is that I prefer not to be called a coonass. It was nice that the fad kinda fell off in the eighties. I'm not an ass of any animal.

With that said, I know there's always going to be folks who call us that and I don't let it bother me at all, and I sure as hell wouldn't be suing a radio station over it.

It's just like the word n!gger. If I was a black person I wouldn't want to called that. The old blacks that really went though hard times with real racism back in the day didn't like to be called that, and now their current generation is calling each other that. Ignorant if you ask me.

Great perspective TonyB., words have meaning and can be used viciously and mean as well as with respect and acknowledgement. It is indeed as much in the way one enunciates and utilizes these words in their appropriate context which clue the listener to their meaning.

Where we as a Society have erred is in placing the emphasis on reacting instead of educating as the former seeks to eliminate any need for the individual to THINK about what they say FIRST.

This is no different than NASCAR's absolute throwing of its originators under the bus by banning the General Lee from the Phoenix race due to the Stars & Bars being on the roof. And much as NASCAR feels pressure from Politically Correct sponsors, so shall they be Boycotted in Mass. See what is happening to Carbonite, headed for extinction for siding with the LIES told by that whore Liberal plant.

Folks call us Crackers as a slur yet I am one of the few Native Georgians who embrace that moniker. We understand the difference, know the meaning. Just because YOU overheard it gives you NO RIGHT AT ALL to open your pie hole. Yes, folks do need to understand WHEN to STAY THE HELL OUT OF LOCAL BIDNESS.

What's funny about all this is that Jamie Bergeron calls HIMSELF a Coonass in the song, not anyone else; hence the title "I'm a Registered Coonass". I feel as though I can call myself whatever the hell I want to without anyone else's approval. So what's the real issue here?

All this will do is increase sales of the CD.

This is actually a great thing for Jamie

Nobody is certain as to what true derivation is. A Democratic US Representative and attorney from Lafayette is the one who thought the meaning was "dirty prostitute." Go figure, they're always spewing out the mouth.

I am from Texas and they call us Rednecks. When I was a Youngster driving Truck once a week to Louisiana I did my best to get as friendly as possible with those Coonass Girls yall got over there. Sometimes I was successful and I never caught nothing nor was I charged. Still remember one that was real light skinned and had a hair like a Mexican, she could have given me anything she wanted and I would have been proud to get it.
