That stupid son of bitch has done it again swaps five detainees from gettmo for one us soldier. Now all around the world our troops are bigger targets not just on the battle field but anywhere the U.S. has never negotiated with terrorists until this fucking pussy what a shame. American's have been dumb down now we are pussified no one respects us as a world power anymore. Call your Senate member and demand a impeachment vote it's time we stand up to this dictator. |

concur. How does impeachment work? It has to be called by the senate and then tried in the house or vice versa. Then there are hearings, and then there is a vote on removal? |

He did it because one of his first promises if he got elected was to close GITMO. It's still open, so he's slowly getting rid of detainees so it can slowly be closed. |

The Impeachment Process In the House of Representatives The House Judiciary Committee decides whether or not to proceed with impeachment. If they do... The Chairman of the Judiciary Committee will propose a Resolution calling for the Judiciary Committee to begin a formal inquiry into the issue of impeachment. Based on their inquiry, the Judiciary Committee will send another Resolution to the full House stating that impeachment is warranted and why (the Articles of Impeachment), or that impeachment is not called for. The Full House (probably operating under special floor rules set by the House Rules Committee) will debate and vote on each Article of Impeachment. Should any one of the Articles of Impeachment be approved by a simple majority vote, the President will be "impeached." However, being impeached is sort of like being indicted of a crime. There still has to be a trial, which is where the US Senate comes in. In the Senate The Articles of Impeachment are received from the House. The Senate formulates rules and procedures for holding a trial. A trial will be held. The President will be represented by his lawyers. A select group of House members will serve as "prosecutors." The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (currently John G. Roberts) will preside with all 100 Senators acting as the jury. The Senate will meet in private session to debate a verdict. The Senate, in open session, will vote on a verdict. A 2/3 vote of the Senate will result in a conviction. The Senate will vote to remove the President from office. The Senate may also vote (by a simple majority) to prohibit the President from holding any public office in the future. Impeachable Offenses Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution says, "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." In his report, Independent Counsel, Starr accuses President Clinton of committing eleven acts for which he could be removed from office by impeachment. Are any of those acts "Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors?" Well, that's up to the members of the House of Representatives. According to constitutional lawyers, "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" are (1) real criminality -- breaking a law; (2) abuses of power; (3) "violation of public trust" as defined by Alexander Hamilton in the Federalist Papers. In 1970, then Representative Gerald R. Ford defined impeachable offenses as "whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history." An excellent definition, Mr. Former President. In the past, Congress has issued Articles of Impeachment for acts in three general categories: Exceeding the constitutional bounds of the powers of the office. Behavior grossly incompatible with the proper function and purpose of the office. Employing the power of the office for an improper purpose or for personal gain. |

that means, to remove him it would take 66 senators, the democrats own like 52 senators, there will never be 18 demoRats to cross over. Actually it means that it would take 67 senators if they all vote. |

why would you trade the life of one for thousands of Americans. Yeah the parents of this soldier is happy but what about the thousands of parents in the future that will have loved ones blown up and killed. The US doesnt deal with terriost until this law breakin president came into office.... Now all of our American service men and women from CIA down to the private are going to be indanger of being kidnapped because the terriost will think they can bargin for more terriost out of gitmo... If he was a great soldier from the beginning dont you think we would have heard about how a heroic soldier had been captured and his comrades would have positive things to say upon hearing that he was comming home. The only ones saying what a upstanding soldier this man was is the barack osama admin. Good men died trying to save his sorry ass. We definetly.heard and saw on the news when a soldier risked life and limb under fire and chased down and recovered a fallen soldier from multiple insurgents so his family could have their son back on American soil. This man served our country with honor and distinction. The man bowe who wrote and confided his disdain and irregaurd for his oath and contract to his country and the American people is a discrase to the American flag and all those that have fought and died to protect us that went before him. |

Dguidry, what can he say? He chose to leave. Premeditated. He shipped all his personal belongings home before deserting... what story could he tell that would allow for his actions to be seen as honorable? I am happy he is no longer being held, but now he must face a court martial..... His detention by the Taliban does not excuse his actions..... and if they prove treason , I'd like to see this man hang. |
