Some of you ignored the statistical graph I post up above. The pics are just for emphasis. The BP spill was in Federal Waters, not governed by Louisiana environmental laws.

So, If I follow the conservative logic, oil spills like the BP Horizon are just a cost of doing business and we should regulate the industry less because disasters like this are gonna happen anyway? In other words, drill at all costs?

^^^hell no^^^ only American companies should be allowed to drill on American soil or water! Fuck the Brits or any other non American company that wants to drill for oil. I also am for drilling in Alaska. Yes accidents are going to happen. Unfortunetly the oil spill was a very bad one. I think there needs to be more workers to check these types of situations and keep them to a minimal. We had a million gal. Spill into a river system I live on and hunt regularly. The pipe blew and spilled over 4 days before someone checked why the pressure was low on the line! I'm not saying don't regulate it at all! I'm saying on e you get laws and regulations in place leave it alone don't make it next to impossible to drill. That seems to be the issue with liberals they don't know when to leave well enough alone. If there is a way to tax the shit, or make money off from something they are on it like fly on shit.

With the amount of oil we have right here in the USA we should not have to buy any oil from the rag heads again. Plus the price of a gallon of gas should be below $1.00 per gallon. I remember before he took office gas was $1.88 a gal now look. The price of everything has skyrocketed groceries included. This is some recovery he's touting for sure. Unbelievable how much denial there is about pollution. Is anyone here seriously suggesting that the air quality in New York and in all major cities has not improved significantly since 1965 as a direct result of regulation? I thought the denial of climate change was bad enough.

Pollution isnt better because of regulation, it better because technology has improved. You can say it's because of regulation all you want, but vehicles get the same gas mileage they got 30 years ago because of regulation. The technology allows for better and more efficient use of fuels, the regulations actually prevent manufacturers from maximizing that potential because of a measurement. They dont take into account that measurement over time during normal use.
