I don't mean to be a joy kill but life jackets are required for those under a certain age, but a good idea for all kids.

Ditto. The one in the back could easily be tossed out if that skeg were to hit something to one side.

By all means take your wife and kids out on the water but tragedy is much more likely to take place without proper PFD's

You guys are both correct. Kinda feel like a doucbe now putting this on here. We were moving fishin spots only a couple minutes away, it never crossed my mind. They normally always have them on, i muffed that up.

I wear mine with kids on board just to lead by example, even though I hate wearing one. It's very easy to forget, so as long as their in the boat, they are on.

Thats a good idea, even though like you im not a fan of wearing them myself. When not running i allow them to take em off, but safety should come first. Simple overlook on my part. Not an excuse.

It is all good. Love that you are taking them out there and we all make mistakes.
We had a ride down here yesterday and had a guy almost go out of his own boat just cruising down a "clean" trail. He was messing with his motor and hit a clump of crap that was solid and it totally got the boat out of shape. It happens fast.
Keep taking those little ones and have a good time!

Takes a lot more man to admit when you're wrong ;)

I HATE wearing mine too and don't 100% of the time while they're with me but mine is within arms reach. I want to get an auto-inflate PFD this season. Scary stuff can happen running in the dark, getting tossed in deep water while wearing waders....

Anyway. Good on ya, keep that family on the water the right way :)

I was a stickler with my kids and they wore them for years after the law said they didn't have to. They would just get in the boat and put it on. Eventually they figured it out lol
