 Scouting a new block.
Not really mud motors but eh whatever. Went for a sunday drive up into a bush block with a mate, he was looking to mountain bike it, I was looking for a dopey deer. This is up between Five rivers and Mossburn, for those of you handy on google maps.

 Re: Scouting a new block.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbw0iGbj ... ata_playerTry this one. Old but a goodie. Fiordland is a good keyword too. I was lucky enough to live in the park when I was young and meet a lot of the deer recovery boys, they found a lost chopper a few months ago up on a main fly route, it had been lost for 8 years. We found the tail off a huges 500 washed up on the beach at waituna, civil aviation told me it dropped in milford sound 2 years ago, must have broken up on the bottom and floated 300kms

 Re: Scouting a new block.
It would take a hell of alot more people for us to ever have to limit or put a season on deer. However some blocks are balloted for the roar (think you call it rut). Wapiti (elk) are wild in one fiordland area too, they get a bit of management, used to be moose but they haven't seen one for years, pockets of fallow in most smaller forests and pigs too. Whitetail aren't on the mainland, Stewart Island as far as I know. Think they have ruska and sika in the North Island.
Those chopper shooters are unbelievable shooters, they have to head shoot everything our the meat is downgraded.

Stag I shot when we owned a ranch in south Texas . Great beautiful animals. Not much for table fair in my opinion though

 Re: Scouting a new block.
We have a high fence ranch in Ms. Red stag is some of the best meat I've had, second to moose. Y'all's must have been eating bitter weed in south Tx.
