That's awesome. I know that boat is built like a tank, how's the bottom look after that?

Wow! Bet you don't have to deal with much competition from the duck dynasty crowd with ice and cold like that.

It definitely thins out the hunters. If you can get where the birds want to be it can be the best hunting of the season but if they are not there its a ton of work for nothing. Its actually harder on the sides than the bottom. Its hard to see but here is a pic of the sides.

Here is a pic of how thick the ice was we were breaking a couple years ago.

Yeah looks like the sides take most of the impact busting through.

Yeah I've broken ice like that before. Bust off a big ass 25x25ft sheet and submarine it and shove it up under the rest of the ice.

The first video looks badass! At first I didn't realize it was relatively thin ice with snow on top and thought y'all were busting through like 5-6" of ice

I like the ice if it's on a pond or a place on the lake where we can drive up. But ice is hell on everything especially the sides of the boat when you are breaking a trail.

I agree with the post above though. It can either bring the best hunts of the year...or the worst.

The ice doesnt really hurt the props. Sand is way worse on them. I wish I had got 3/16 on the sides after the last couple years freezing up as early as it has. The ice in the video with the snow was about 2". I found that somewhere between 4 and 6 inches is where the boat stops.

I'm going coyote hunting tonight.

Not sure if I'm excited or if I should have my head examined.

Post Re: Duals breaking ice.
Last year we had about 2.5 inches of ice in an area I hunt. We were busting through it pretty good, but had to run wot. All of the sudden we hit a spot and the boat gets on top of the ice, and slides about 20 feet.

We were running a Longtail, so no reverse, and can't get the prop into the ice because of the skeg

If we tried to step on the ice, it would break.

After we spent the morning trying to pole backwards on ice, we don't hunt in the ice anymore.

Yup been there a bunch of times. 2 - 3" is max for us. Anything thicker and it becomes way to much work. It was -25 deg. Here yesterday with the wind chill. Supposed to be -10 deg. Tonight without the wind. Got 12" of snow yesterday and have a big storm coming in from the west that's supposed to dump another 12"-14" this afternoon and tonight with 25-30mph wind gusts. Gonna be an ugly 30 mile ride into work tomorrow! Got "white outs"? Lol
