Post What has the MM world come to?
Every post I see asking about a boat or a review has the question "What kinda speeds ya getting?"

What ever happened to just getting there and back?

Any of you first place speed demons ever look back and realize - you weren't the fastest, just nobody was following you?

i can understand speed being an important factor. efficiency mixed with purpose is the kind of thoughts that should go into every boat design. it just depends on what the customer wants, if he wants a fast boat thatll go through good mud and jump a couple stumps thats what he wants... some might just care about it jumpin stumps, goin through mud and not about speed. different poeple have different interests. dats all

I am more concerned about my speeds when I load my boat down.....not necessarily being first, just carrying around a duck load at a decent pace and not plowing the water

I travel long distances to my hole so the faster the better. The boat I had before the one I had now was a 1754 Grizzly Side Console with a 90hp Merc and I used to love going to my hole doing almost 50mph at night. Problem was that once I got there the guys that would leave the dock two hours before me with the long shafts would catch up. So now I'm happy going a little more than half the speed but at least not having to stop.

Brooks, I sold that boat to buy the rig I have now and those stickers were added by the guy that I bought the engine from. That engine definitely turned some heads at the ramp and when I bought it, it only had 34 hours on it and garage stored the whole time. If you could believe it, I bought that boat with a 9.9hp on it and the guy that sold it to me was trying to get me to believe that a 9.9 would bring that big boat out on plane. So I tell the guy that the only way that boat would get out on plane with that engine is if you put it on an airplane and he got upset at me!

My kids did love the 9.9hp for the whole two days I owned it. I would let them drive the boat full throttle doing a WHOLE 4mph and they thought they were flying! I could take a nap if I wanted two and wake up 100ft from where I was.
