So I recently removed some old foam from the stern of my jon only to find it saturated with water. The sides of the boat that the foam met the aluminum was pitted badly from oxidation of the aluminum due to continual exposure to the water that was locked into the foam (70 lbs). So after wading through forum posts from all over the place I have come up with a product called Marine-Tex epoxy. I was wondering if anybody had seen or heard of how this stuff works?

Very gooey stuff. Much harder to spread and shape than say Bondo or sheetrock mud. Never used it on Aluminum. I would think the aluminum would have to be very clean for it to stick.



I have used it on fiberglass for small hole repair. Not sure exactly what you plan to do with it but I can't see how Marine-Tex can be the right stuff.

try alumaloy. i use it to fill holes all the time. just follow instructions and get a good mapp gas torch. i use marine tex also but it is brittle and tends to chip and crank on impacts. btw if you use marine tex, use the grey it is a harder compound than the white.
