im looking for schematics for a 2000 toyota tundra 2wd im pretty sure i busted my wheel seal , i have gear lube all over my wheel. any help in appreciated

Hell its pretty straight forward on the rear axle man. Let me walk you thorugh it. Jack up your truck and set on jackstands safely and securely.
1. pull off wheel
2. Unscrew hard brake line from backing plate (I think it is either an 8 or 10 MM to take the line out)
3. Use a 14MM socket to remove the 4 bolts that hold the backing plate/ axle shaft to the housing
4. Grab the assembly by the drum/backing plate and pull the axle out of the tube (some oil may come out at this point) Do not lose the rubber oring that fits between the housing and backing plate flange it needs to be there.

Now that it is apart you can see if the axle shaft seal in the tube is scarred. Toyota has the tube seal, the o ring, and a dust seal for the bearing. If you are losing gear oil it is probably the oil seal in the tube and that is easily replaced. Check your bearing for exess play by trying to wiggle the backing plate from the axle shaft. If there is any play I suggest replacing your bearings, but that takes time/ special tools to press out the old and press on the new bearings. I have all the tools I made and I can walk you through anything on a toyota axle so post up and ill make sure you get your truck fixed.

Now assembly is reverse disassembly. lube up the seal well with grease or gear oil so you dont have a dry start up and ruin the new seal. Take precaution to not gall up the seal sliding the axleshaft back into the housing. Rotate axle until you line up the splines on the axle shaft with the splines inside the carrier/ chunk as some people call it. I also put RTV around that Oring and then rebolt the 4 14 MM nuts to hold the assembly to the axle housing. Re attach brake line and bleed brakes... Also a tip... if you have rubber brake line pinch it to stop all your brake fluid from coming out and be careful not to cut the line. Bleed brakes and enjoy an non leaking axle shaft.

If I changed the seal outside the axle housing would that stop the leaking?

Follow the steps in the post above. The oil seal is inside the axle tube. You gotta pull the axle out to get to it.

the axle seal is what is in the tube. Stops oil from exiting housing. The other seal that is in the backing plate UNDER the pressed on collar/ snapring, and pressesd on bearing is bothing more than a dust seal to protect the sealed rollwer wheel bearing.
This is the wheel seal that stops oil from coming out of the housing... Gotta pry it out and put a new seal in...pretty simple stuff
