Gator Tail Props and Gears
Is there a better prop out there for a gator tail other than the factory big blade? Looking for something that I can get a little more speed yet still get through the mud. I don't really care to try to dig myself off a wet mudflat, just enough to get going in a inch or two of water with soft mud.
Also, what is the best gear ratio setup for the gator tail? I believe I remember seeing where the EVT guys tried some different gearing but can't remember the results.
This would be on a gator tail with a stage 1 and cam.

Re: Gator Tail Props and Gears
If you're not carrying a load, you may want to ask them about a small prop. My small prop runs faster than my big prop, but doesn't carry a load nearly as well.

Re: Gator Tail Props and Gears
I was under the impression there was a standard prop, then Gatortail came out with the big blade, now stock on new motors. Is there a larger prop still? I bought my GTR35 in 2008, with a 12" prop.

Re: Gator Tail Props and Gears
If you need a little more prop find someone with a mudbuddy and try their big blade. Its got 1/2 inch more pitch and is just a little larger diameter. May give you a little more.
Repitching a prop can make a big difference, 10 pitch is always 10 pitch.

Re: Gator Tail Props and Gears
A hook in the hull would cause you to lose speed while maintaining the same rpm's.
