Post Upgrading PD Trim Switch
I know I saw a thread a long time ago where people successfully replaced their Prodrive trim switch with an auxilliary outboard trim switch like the one below.

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/t ... x?a=260408

In a search I could only find a thread where people say it wouldn't work. For some reason I thought it was Coastal who did this successfully. Has anyone used this switch or remember the thread I'm talking about? I already have the switch, I just need to know if it works and how to hook it up.

I found the thread.

So, it seems the older hydraulic pumps need a switch that is fed current (either positive or negative, but I would assume it's positive in this application) and then just distributes that current down one of two lines depending on which button you press. Therefore they can use the transom switch because it has 3 wires for the different legs mentioned above. Is this right?

The switches for the new pumps need to be fed both positive & negative. Then those are distributed down two lines that go to the hydraulic motor. Which line is positive and which is negative is determined by whatever button you press. Is this correct?

How can you tell if you have the new or old hydraulic pump? I think mine is the old version. It looks like the one in the link above.

Mine quit working on the down stroke too. It's a sealed switch on top at least. I siliconed around switch before mounting it 2 c if keeping the back dry helps it last a little longer.
