Re: one for the wall today!!
Mainly a coastal bird. We get em thick on the texas coast at times. If you have bufflehead deeks, you can stand right next to em and they'll come in. But man are they fun to shoot.

Re: one for the wall today!!
Ruddy Ducks are dumber than than any duck I've ever seen, prolly dumber than coots.
We had some light in the pond we were hunting and no matter what we did they wouldn't leave.

Re: one for the wall today!!
Thanks!! We seen a few the other moring 3-4. My son had a shot at one but missed, and we talking about mounting it if he had killed it.. I had 3 come in the deeks (feet down!!) this morning 2 females 1 male so I took him knowing I wanted to mount it. I hope my son gets a chance at another one and we will mount the pair.

Re: one for the wall today!!
thats a bull buff. we shoot the crap out of them when hunting blackheads and redheads on the sound. on a calm day when the blacks and reds arent flying one or two buff decoys is deadly and fun.

Re: one for the wall today!!
And today I killed this Dosgris (blue bill). The band is so old you can't even make out the numbers. You can only see parts of 1-2 numbers. I had to laugh out loud when I picked it up. Its my 3 banded duck and prolly one Ill talk about the most!

Re: one for the wall today!!
Anyone know how to retrieve the numbers off of a band that's wore out?? This thing is 98% wore to where I can't read 1 number clear.

Re: one for the wall today!!
Wrap a piece of paper on it real tight and gently scratch a pencil over it? Spray it with some kind of etching solution? Maybe that will highlight the low spots? shit, I dunno.

You might be shit outta luck on that one. Call grissom, maybe he's got some kinda bug he can put on it and bring the numbers back to life.

I looked them up. They will send it back but sometimes they are to worn to get any info. I'm thinking this maybe the case. But I'm sending it in
