It's a lawn mower engine! Unless you have mods don't worry. Just try and find non ethanol

I use mid grade and use the stabil ethenal treatment (blue) for marine environments.

 Re: What type of gas?
Small engines ALWAYS use premium. Add stabilizer with each tank as well.

 Re: What type of gas?
Coming from some outboard techs that do a lot of work on racing motors, this is what I've been told:
Whether it's cars, small engines, boats. . .high-octane gasoline is only necessary in engines with higher compression to prevent early detonation. There's no advantage in regular engines.
If you let gasoline sit, it will eventually begin to lose octane. So, if you let it sit for a long time the premium may offer a benefit. Sta-bil will prevent phase separation and loss of octane rating in gasoline. But if you turn your tank over fairly often, it's not necessary.
If you can find non-ethanol (usually recreational fuel, here it's 90 Octane), it will save you a lot of headaches and money. If you have to run ethanol fuel, purchase the black diesel-grade fuel lines, not the grey UV resistant pliable fuel lines. Do yourself a favor and trust me on this. I've been through two sets of "ethanol resistant" grey lines on my flats boat and once I went black, I'll never go back...

 Re: What type of gas?
And if you ever have any amount of water that gets in your gas, no worries, just give the tank a good shake an you'll be good to go.

 Re: What type of gas?
Premium with marine stabil here. I don't burn enough gas in mine to make a difference $ wise in an open water season.

 Re: What type of gas?
Why are y'all wasting money? Premium means 91 octane which means it has higher resistance to combustion. That's it. There is about 10 people on this thread that are wasting money. Its not making you any faster or better for your engine(disclaimer: modded engines it makes a diffrence) I only use stabil if I plan to leave my motor up for an extended period of time. My motor has never had stabil

 Re: What type of gas?
In Canada we can still get ethanol-free gasoline if we buy Shell Gold (premium). I still add stabiliser as well as Mercury fuel treatment for my boat and other small engines to try to avoid gumming up if the fuel sits around for a while. As far as I know other Canadian premium gasolines may have up to 10% ethanol.
