 led vs hid
I am having a boat built, and still undecided on lighting. I am going to go with a go-light, just not sure whether to go with hid or led. Which one is brighter? Sorry if this has been covered before, couldn't find any topics when using the search.

 Re: led vs hid
HID's are usually brighter. LED's are more efficient.

 Re: led vs hid
I have heard through the grapevine that the HID upgrade for the go-light is not worth the money.

 Re: led vs hid
Ive got the Stryker wireless with HID running lights underneath it. cheaper then buying the HID golight. all i use the go light for is to light up paths/canals that are not directly in front of me. works just fine. The HID is overkill, for me anyway.
Heres my setup
The conversion Kit for the running light was cheap too.
Hope this helps

 Re: led vs hid
There is no comparison. HID cant hold a candle to the LED technology. It's simple math that cannot be denied. Your wallet determines which route you take.

 Re: led vs hid
Thanks for the replies... So will hid's drain the battery more than LEDs? Is that why the technology is better

 Re: led vs hid
yes, LEDs draw little to nothing compared to anything else.

 Re: led vs hid
They run close to 100% efficiency, which means a 16w led draws almost dead on 16w of power. HID's use a ballast and will have some loss in the power conversion needed to run the bulb so a 16w light may use ~20w of power (just a random reference number, I don't know the exact power consumption on the HID's). LED's also put out a lot of light for their rated power consumption. Lots of Lumens per watt vs some of the other types of lights out there.

 Re: led vs hid
I am pretty much sold on the go-light, and I do believe they have it in a led model

 Re: led vs hid
yes they do, get it and let us know how it works. I never did like the old one but I like the remote control.
