 Copperhead fuel tank ??
So I'm thinkin about getting a 12 hp copperhead when the tax money comes in and was wondering if the auxillary fuel tank is worth the extra $$. Its gonna go on my 14x36 jonboat and i run 10-12 miles on average. Is it worth doing at all or should I have it put on, or should i do it myself. I've never fooled with it so i don't know how difficult it would be to rig up.

 Re: Copperhead fuel tank ??
The aux tank is nothing more than the red portable fuel tanks that are in all boats. However, in order to use a remote fuel tank, you have to have a fuel pump. That is what Copperhead does. They sell you the pump, hoses and tank. Obviously they take stock mounted tank off.
I don't make long runs so I still have the mounted tank on my 12hp. I make sure it's full before leaving the house and I carry along a 2.5 gallon tank also.

I've got the 12 hp on a 1648 with huntin load I go around 6 mile on a tank .. just a guess .. but with the motor down in deep water and the fuel line in the front of the tank it only burn about half a tank out ... I carry a one gallon gas can and last me all day ... No problems ...

 Re: Copperhead fuel tank ??
If u can up grade to the 14 hp kolher .. my lct started leaking oil around 200 hours .. it runs great.. tho ... The only other issue I've had was the low oil sensor on take off would kill the motor cause of being trim down and centrifugal force .. in hook it ... Great motor and super customer service !

 Re: Copperhead fuel tank ??
Thanks for the info guys i think I'll stick with the motor mounted fuel tank for a while and see how it works out. I stripped the prop on the LT i have right now and i figured its time to upgrade rather than try to fix it up. Anyone know of a dealer in TX only option that i know of for me right now is to order it and have it shipped.
