Post Painting Exhaust
Wondering if anybody has tried it. I see Dupli-Color has a VHT Flame Proof paint rated for 2000F.

I did mine with 1200 deg paint. I made sure to clean it really good before i painted it. Did 3 coats. It made it around 15 hrs before it started to burn off.

I have never tried it on a muffler, but there are high temp paint applications out there that work good for high temp. But, they are supposed to be applied at high temp >400 degrees F or they don't cure. Done it for high temp pipe in service.

There are also ceramic coatings made for process heater/furnace tubes. Don't know if they would hold up to vibration of a mud motor, though.

Even if the paint did stay, and it won't. The exhaust will break in time anyway. So you'll either have to get it welded, which would mess the paint up or buy a new one, and you back to square one.

ceramic coating will hold but expensive..check with your local powder coating company and see if they can do the black ceramic..if bot there are plenty places you can ship it too to get it coated..paint aint gonna hold!

would paint or ceramic coat or powder coat make the exhaust hotter? insulating it? seems the muffler would retain more heat.
