got a question concerning motor hp to boat size
getting a boat built within the next few weeks. Im wanting a 20x48 all 1/8' boat. Heres my question. i have a 23mb with stage 3 kit, will my motor be able to decently push a 20' boat? cant afford to buy a new motor right now. If not what size boat would you recomend me getting? i mean idc if i only am able to run 18-20 with a load, Im trying to get the biggest boat possible that i can decently run with my motor. i can turn a big blade prop around 4500-4600 rpm if that helps with a mental picture of my motor. i just dont wanna get the boat built and not be able to push it. Thanks for any help.

Re: got a question concerning motor hp to boat size
I don't think any motor manufacturer is gonna recommend you push a 20' boat with a 23hp even one that's highly modified. My son has been surveying the same issue with my GTR23. He'll probably go with the 17' x 46" boat that GT builds. He can later put a 35 on it when he gets the cash. It's rated for the 25GTR which is very close in HP and performance to my highly modified 23.

why build a new boat before you can afford a bigger motor? just keep saving enough and sale your current rig to get the bigger motor.
