 New to Mud Boats...Please advise
Hi,
I am finally going to upgrade my 14x32 tracker topper with a 11 hp long shaft to a reall mud boat with a surface drive. Been reading alot on mud motor talk and talking to a few mfgers...
How I will use the boat 2-3 guys hunting or fishing. several mile open water runs (smaller lakes or rivers) normal marsh mud stuff beam cannot be wider than 57" (one place I hunt alot requirment)
Boat combos I am considering.... I want comments on performance if possilbe..speeds ability to cary the load etc. If I am going to spend 10-13K I want it to be right.
16x38 gator trax rogue with 27 HP prodrive (I want reverse) and hunt deck
18x38 gator trax rogue with 27 HP prodrive (I want reverse) and hunt deck
The Gator trax guy told me he would not sell me a rogue with any larger engine period. He also says just buy the 18 fter with the hunt deck you will be sorry if you do not. Are there other boats I should consider?
Thanks for the help!

Re: New to Mud Boats...Please advise
What's with the 57" inch limit? You might have a tough time supporting a 35 with that beam.

Few guys on here have the dixie 1648 that has a 56 inch beam, I have never ran so couldn't tell ya but couldn't hurt to ask them how they like their rig

Re: New to Mud Boats...Please advise
I have heard that having a hunt deck will make using the Prodrive reverse a pain because of how it is activated? Not positive because I have never handled one but that is what I have read. If that's the case it might be best to go with the 1838 tall transom without the huntdeck. I have a 1638 rogue with a hunt deck and have a 24hp longtail on it now and it is a great boat. Down the road I plan to upgrade most likely to a 25 GTR. But my boat is used exclusively for hunting and 99% of the time I will have at most 1 other guy with me. If I have all the decoys and the boat and the spots and do all the scouting by myself I don't feel like loading the boat with freeloaders haha.
