Post Houseboat insurance
I am having a hard time insuring my new houseboat.

Who are you using to insure a houseboat with out engines? Most insurance companies are calling it a floating home not a boat. I do not mind putting a outboard on it but they are still saying its a floating home not a boat being is a barge with a house built on it.

I told then I was going to buy a outboard or two. They still are claiming its a floating home due to the construction of the house. I see many I these and I know some one is insuring them. I have 2 brokers working on it.

Wouldn't it have to be registered with the state as a motor vessel in order to insure it as a boat?

The guy that would know is Mitch Mequet.
He has Cypress Cove Landing going south along he basin levee road from Henderson ,LA
He has a few of these floating homes that he rents out.
No drive engines, just generators and on board waste treatment.
