 mud buddy motor losing power
First sorry I know this has been probably been posted all over here but I searched and couldn't find anything to help.
We bought a used mud buddy before hunting season - motor a 2005 35 hp vanguard that has a 4000 HD Sport sticker on it. Guy said it had some carb work done to it. Before we bought it, the owner had the entire outdrive replaced.
On our boat we were getting speeds of 22-23 mph with 3 men in it. We have used it over 5 weekends in Venice and this past trip with just me and a light load I clocked myself at 12 mph. We are also having issues with it cold starting (haven't had that issue until recently) and with it the engine missing when the throttle is pressed to full. With it not pressed to full, the engine is turning the same amount of RPMs that it would turn with it pressed wide open, but the power isn't there. The prop looks semi-worn and we will replace that. Is there anything else we need to be looking at?
Thanks for the help.

Re: mud buddy motor losing power
Are you sure your prop isn't worn so bad that your hitting your rev limiter and thinking the motor is missing?

Re: mud buddy motor losing power
Makes sense. We are going to put a brand new prop on it and get the sticky throttle fixed and see what happens. Is there any other maintenance with a new outdrive we should look into while it is in the shop?

Re: mud buddy motor losing power
Just measure the prop from tip to tip and report back. Could be a million different things.
