 Re: pushpole recommendations?
Telescopic poles are all the same, they all suck. Just buy an Avery if you don't want to spend much.

 Re: pushpole recommendations?
Go get you a section of 1 1/2" wooden dowel rod as long as you think will work. Attach a pvc "T" with caps to one end and a cap to the other using gorilla glue to fasten. Cheap, strong and multi purpose. Also doubles as a spud pole and it floats.

 Re: pushpole recommendations?
I don't use this rig personally, as I was given one of the telescopic octagon poles when I worked for BASS. I have seen this setup used by others, tho. Very durable. If mine ever fails, I'll be making me one like that.

 Re: pushpole recommendations?
I did some looking at THD. You can get 1 1/2 inch pine up to 16 feet long for $2.62/ft. As with all lumber, the diameter is actually smaller than that. You would have to use 1" PVC, and then whittle the ends down a little for it to fit snug. Some glue and a stainless wood screw through the fittings into each end will ensure they're secure. Cypress would be better, but it's hard to find and considerably more expensive. A good coating of sealer and pine will last a long time tho. You can build a 12 foot pole for around $50. Just not telescopic.

 Re: pushpole recommendations?
I'll deffinatley have to give that some thought my biggest thing is I hate having unnecessary clutter in the boat.thats why I was looking more at a 2 piece.

 Re: pushpole recommendations?
I have a 1648 Jon boat with very limited space for storage. I installed pushpole brackets (like you find on flats boats) on the port side on top of each seat. My pole opens to 14 ft and locks securely into place a couple inches from the side. I leave it extended. The duckbill sitting on top of the rear seat since that spot is usually vacant. But there's still plenty room for someone to sit there. It's out of the way, secure and readily accessible if I need it. When retracted its still 8 ft long. Not too many rod boxes will store it without having a bunch of rods piled on top of it. Then you have to dig it out. Not a good situation either if you need it NOW!

 Re: pushpole recommendations?
I'm not to worried about that if I have to break out the pushpole there probably won't be much water anyways lol

 Re: pushpole recommendations?
I had a gator trax one piece. Never used it as I didn't want that long thing all over the boat all the time. Sold it. Got a Superstick and never leave home without it.

 Re: pushpole recommendations?
Shove that pushpole down in the mud, hook up a come-along and walk it right out. Takes a little while, but sure beats giving yourself a hernia trying to push a boat off a mudflat......no personal experience, just saying.
