 Winch for duck boats.....
I'm sure this topic is been beat to death, can't find much on the subject. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Could the MMT help me out here. Just bought the 2017 ProDrive X series 1854 , got the Prodrive 37 HP EFI generation four motor..... Not wanting to break the bank because already have for the boat, but what's a good winch. The LED light bar about drove me crazy researching for it. Any help would be a appreciated men. Good luck and be careful this upcoming season thank you.

 Re: Winch for duck boats.....
4500# winch from tractor supply or harbor freight. around 160$ or cheaper on sale.
I pulled over a levee for 4 years on my duck lease with one. the 2000/3000# winches strain too bad and get too hot.
one of the guys on the lease has one on his 1854 pd hull/boat and it does fine.
the one thing u will need to do is get rid of that crappie steel cable and put synthetic rope on it.
you can spend a lot more on a nice superwinch or warn, but at 160$ or so, I can replace the champion 4500# winch every 2 years or so and be happy. I've had good luck with mine.

I run a harbor freight 2500lb winch with their snatch block. It's rated at 20K and it'll fit in your hip pocket. It was $59 and with the snatch block taking some of the load off of it, it has lasted a couple years pulling my 1860 with GG. I'd buy another one.

I've got the superwinch terra 3500 in my boat. Doesn't bog down at all even pulling over sand bars.

 Re: Winch for duck boats.....
Harbor Freight 3500. It's going on 3.5 years old now, and gets used for about 300 yards almost every weekend during duck season. I have mine mounted on a piece of plate and square tubing. I have 2'' receiver on the front of my boat. A lot of guys use a mount that slips in the spud pole and that seems to work well for them.
The 3500 from HF pulls my heavy 17x48 Uncle J no problem. I think it's a good value.
Definitely get a synthetic rope no matter what you decide. Those frayed cables will jack you up.
