Post Cheap Thai kit ?
Yup.
Anyone know what the cheapest most shit longtail kit is and where I can find one?
No rain all year. River is WAY down and the 1860 barge is Probly gona stay parked most of season if we continue with this weather pattern.
I'm in the process of horse trading some bullshit around on Craigslist to pick up a 12 foot Jon boat to throw in the back of the truck bc I don't want to fuck with a trailer. But I gotta find some power. Don't need durable motor frame or anything like that don't care if the bushings are plastic. just need it to last this season and to cost next to nothing. Got a 6.5 Honda already to throw on it .

Got a boat. Going to order a kit this week. The Honda motor I had is almost junk and doesn't like to cold start so Probly gona pick up the $98 predator 6.5 from HFT tomorrow. This is gona be a slick wood duck rig for this season with the lack of water around here. Weighs around or less than 100lbs. 12 footer and fits in the back of the truck nice.

What's likely to happen is that I'll get this all ready and then it will rain 20" in November leading up to season

Does anyone have any experience or recommendation on a swamp runner or the twister kit?
The swamp runner looks like the best of the Thai kits and the same company selling the twister sells a super shitty Thai motor. I really like the idea of the twister for a small boat like this is going on but don't know if the quality is total shit or not.

a little off topic, but are you one of those guys who put newer model chevy rims on the old model trucks?
Also, that lil 12 footer cant be that heavy making the back end squat like that! you also may be one of those guys who lift the front of their truck and not the back?

I know of a fella that runs a 35GDSD on a real light riveted 1448. It hauls ass as long as it is just driver and fuel. Tall transom is a must since it will sit so stern heavy. He gets in some tight stuff solo with a dog, but that's about all its good for. Even one more hunter and his junk is really too much to be practical.

Lol I attempted to put it in the pond just for the fun of it. I knew it wasn't gonna work because it was a tall transom motor. When my big ass got in the back of the boat with a battery and a gas can I said NOPE! Had about 2 inches of free board lol. I probly could've put some weight in the front but this wasn't a serious attempt to run it so I didn't put any time into it.

Put the 6.5 predator with the swamp runner Thai kit on the 1236 Jon boat. 11mph with two men. Probly 16-17 solo. It's really a fun little rig and it zips through the rocks and logs in the river. Easy and fun to drive. Gona be a shame that it looks I'll have a 1860 surface drive rig sitting in the shed this season not getting any action after all the work and money put into modding the engine. but im glad I made the decision to put together this little rig.

I have a Mudskipper setup with the 420cc predator engine. I added a cavitation plate, stand up tiller handle, and loop header pipe. It's on a 14& 1/2 ft. Modified v hull fiberglass skiff. Being a Honda clone, aftermarket performance parts for the Predator engines are easy to get, and the customer service at Mudskipper is unparalleled. Yes, I am sure some of the other mud motors manufactured are balanced somewhat better, but they also cost about 3 to 4 times as much as I have into mine. For the money, I am really satisfied with my rig and how it performs. But for the $1200 I have into mine it would cost me $4000 to $6000 to buy. Depending on the manufacturer. If you have a little mechanical skill and know about boats and how they handle then don't let the nay-Sayers deter you. Go with a Mudskipper!!

I ran a 35 mudbuddy on a 1442 alweld for about 10 min just to see how the motor ran. Not at all a good idea, short transom at that.
