 GDSD with F-N-R
Oh and I do like the idea of things not messing up, but I'm an engineer, so stuff messes up all the time. So you were 1 for 3.

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
Back to good ol Mmt banter , this place is definitely more lively than it's been in a long time . Oh yea. , I have a longtail and plan on keeping it , but it's time to join you guys so I'm window shopping for a new sd rig to add to the stable . I am liking all the progress the industry is coming up with .

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
A motor in reverse with a pivot point forward as these motors are benefits from have weight to the rear. Not sure why you think someone inferring a balanced motor won't do as well in reverse doesn't understand physics. With the prop pulling backwards, the prop end will have a tendency to rise. From experience with a motor with reverse that isn't as neutrally weighted, this is the case. So, as an engineer, would you like to elaborate on why a balanced motor would not do this as bad? We're all here to read about mud motor stuff, you have an audience.

Who needs a GD when GATORTAIL is still around with reverse?

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
There are quite a few reasons, usually ignored or just shouted down with "you're stupid" by the kool-aid brigade. It's reverse, it works, but it's not perfect and could be improved. So if gd releases it, it quite possibly could be a better design than what the beloved gtr has proven to be. I own a gtr, and other than the fact it does go backwards with a squeeze on that lever, don't understand the unwillingness to notice what's wrong and acknowledge it can be improved on.

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
My physics theory may be a little rough but the way I see it, and it is evident in the video, the prop is pulling away from the boat at the pivot point and thus will continue to rise. Hopefully this theory makes a little sense, probably is wrong but I gave it a shot.

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
Physics does dictate due to the location of the pivot point that yes, it is still going to lift. Doesn't matter that the prop is angled down some. That angle will lessen the degree to which it lifts, but it won't eliminate it, or it won't create enough thrust to the rear to be of any use when stuck in some nasty shit. It's a tradeoff, I get it, but the physics lesson you are trying to deliver doesn't hold mud in the application here. If you have a mm with reverse, you should understand, but I also get that in spite of the intelligence engineers posses, sometimes the practical side of a design doesn't work as well as the concept. (And yes, that last part is a joke, made by someone that has laughed continually with the engineers in his family).

I was all set to order me a new gdsd with reverse until I seen the 1962 Corvette at a guys house and he offered to sell it at a nice price. My wife is going to kill me.

I passed a brand new unpainted boat with a GD FNR protype tonight. It was pulled by an older teal 2500 hd westbound on I 10 near lake charles.

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
I am used to not having reverse.... I just got my brand new 2016 35 GDSD - old school carb model.... Runs just as good as my 8yr old one did - but it has a new happy owner.... Maybe one will be on display next week - http://www.louisianasportsmanshow.com/Booth 8200 Or maybe not -

I feel like i would be the best option for a non bias honest evaluation. Tell ole Co Co to pack one up and ship it over to South Carolina and If I don't like it I'll send it back if I like it it got stolen yesterday
