 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
In the end he tried to please every one and jerked around some,i guess it shows he had a plan but in the end couldn't deliver to all ,some of us got good unit's and others did not, little shit can be over looked but in the end i guess he didn't or could not handle it ,it's one thing to come up with a product ,but it takes more than that ,your word ,timming ,and knowing how to run a company you get what you pay for some of us did, and others didn't i was one of the lucky one's and ther are many that where, and some where not ,I do miss talking to the guy, funny fucker, We will miss you Ben rest in peace i thinks that about sums it up .

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
I wish the new owner Best-O-Luck with the resurrection of the business ---- BUT---- How come the new owner is listing motors with QUOTE -->**Paypal invoice will include an extra 3% Paypal fee on the prices ? I thought charging an extra fee for buyers using Paypal was not quite copacetic. Example: http://www.dixiemudmotors.net/PHOTO.php

I don't use PayPal for one reason only ,and it's a good reason, that Corp is Anti hunting and Anti Guns F them, if you all don't know Ebay is also Anti don't use them either. So buy supporting these kinds of Corp in the end it is hurting all of us

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
Gents, I don't know a rats-ass about the detailed vileness of the Paypal, or the conspiracies of the ebay. I haven't used ebay since the days of California Meg Whitman ruling ebay as CEO.
Thus note that it ain't me promoting internet payments through Paypal; it is DMM .
THEY put it on the their site for ya' to click and pay THEM for a new motor. I do known (by reading this here thread) there seems to have been a few prior "problems" with the old company and it just puzzles me they still use Paypal (with an extra fee) AND so many folks complained of late deliveries (which should have been be covered by Paypal in the first place:? ). I do know that PP and Credit Card companies sometimes frown on extra fees being charged to use their services.
Pay for thousands of dollars of internet stuff anyways ya' like. But if on-line companies prefer a personal check , why don't they say so ? If ya feel secure sending personal checks to re-born internet companies, or even paying cash, it's your business . I don't have a dog in this DMM fight. But that extra "fee" is like a fleck of toilet paper on a strippers ass. It just don't seem right.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
I have a buddy that has a 1 yr. old 35 Dixie that I hunted out of all season when I wasn't in my own boat. I was impressed by the motor, but it did have a cracked belt housing. Just checked out there website, is the positive to the starter hanging out the back a fish shocking upgrade?

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
Sad to hear Ben sold his company! No wonder why my belt never came in the mail, I've been waiting for a whole month!!! Shiat!!! Oh well.... I'll have to check with the new owner if he'll honor what Ben told me. I see it looks like some of us here aren't happy with DMM and some are impressed. I'll try to give a review on my 10 hp DMM SD sometime this month, seeing that our hunting season is long gone up north here in MN.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
Well, the PayPal fee is my fault. No, really!
I was trying to pay these guys back in Aug. and ended up on the phone with Steve. He said they prefer not to use credit card due to the high fees. He said they prefer Paypal.
I said 'yeah, I get it, at least paypal's fees aren't as bad as visa's'. Steve says 'really? PayPal charges us?'
I was shocked that they had been doing PayPal deals not knowing that PayPal isn't a non-profit organization, and that they make money off of transactions!
Steve took some time to look into it, confirmed the fee and offered to split them with me. I sent a bank draft.
PayPal fee was up on the site soon after. I get them charging it, I would too. I'm just surprised they were surprised.
That was red-flag number 6 of 84. Should have listened to that voice in my head.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
Finally have my motor running.my first goose over 18 lbs. He was living in the safety of the flats that are like 6in deep at best. Saw him while motoring, luckily it's 20 degrees out so the mud is frozen just below the surface. Got out and flanked him from the side by foot. Its gooseburger time

No different than going to the Hadji store and them making you buy $10 worth of sh*t when using a debit card.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
sure new design. Need to break down the fame next week to drill and add a grease port the steering pivot, none from factory and already seizing up. You can see the throttle return spring I had to add right when I got it

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
Good point ender. I'm going to shut up and appreciate having a working motor for the final week of goose. May all my complaints be small ones from here on in, and I will be happy. The ball end of my throttle cable pops out without a return spring, but that fix took about 5 minutes to rig, so yeah its not worth bitching about Even if mike sends out the same motor, but on time, he is light years ahead of where been was at. If I had gotten my motor as-is in 6-8 Weeks I would have been pretty satisfied.

I'm in northern NJ, hunt in Jersey, orange county NY, and easternand southern long island. Tomorrow should be awesome for geese, they are all hunkered down in the marsh waiting for the snow to stop.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
Tomorrow might be a little nuts on the water, below 25 deg winds over 30. The Briggs has been difficult to start on the water after it cools off. I have had some butt pucker moments last week with the boat getting blown to open water while struggling to get the motor restarted. castaway..the winter version. But season almost over so I gotta try. Unrelated these huge TFTF geese, too fat too fly non migrating monsters are BB proof over 30 yards with steel at 1500fps. I keep patterning so I know they are getting hit, but just shaking it off. Cyborg geese. Anyway tomorrow is more winter testing of the Dixie, see what happens

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
These motors are beast!!! I just purchased a custom Dixie boat and a 35 Dixie motor. I'm so impressed. Had a little issue with a pin on the motor but Mike the owner drove almost 5 hours here to fix it, got back in the truck and drove back to Macon. Great guys and a great company. Definitely recommend these guys!!!!
