So they put coast guard approved on their website but they are selling a coast guard approved boat WITHOUT flotation. In all seriousness guys, that doesn't make sense and seems very misleading. Kinda like saying.....This boat is Coast Guard Approved to sink in case it fills up with water. Not trying to start a GTR vs GD thing, just sayin.

Giga, since it seems like you won't get a GT boat because they sink, maybe you could keep your GD boat and put a GTR on it. If you would do that, I think Tim Miller with Eqqusearch would feel a lot better when you do a search for his organization. He wouldn't have to worry about you running over the body that is being looked for. You could use the instant reverse and stop before it is to late.
He sure did like the GTRs that he saw down here in Louisiana last year.

I've been on the water my whole life and I've had several boats(all with out flotation) and I just bought my first MM set-up. I bought a Gator Tail knowing damn good and well that it doesn't have flotation and I haven't loss any sleep over the fact that it is a commercial hull. But I get a kick out of people that think their dinosaur GD set-ups are so damn superior because there is less to break and they think their hulls won't sink. I'd be willing to bet my rookie ass could both tear up that motor and sink a GD if I tried hard enough!

LOL love all the bash talk. But the best part is last year WHEN IT COUNTED, all you knuckleheads with your "far superior" MM's and equiped with video cameras could do nothing to catch me stuck. Not one of you! And now this "super awesome" post about USCG certification. Might as well slap a sticker on the back of your GTR hull that reads..."USCG false sense of security". And yes, airboat talk is empty.

This also allows Gator Tail to use a coast guard Manufacturers ID Code vs having to go through the state of LA to place a HIN on each boat.

Before it would have been illegal to use a CG MIC on any boat that doesn't have floatation, now that is not the case.

I wish we could get this same approval because although we have a CG MIC, any boat we build that doesn't have floatation has to be registered as home made because Texas won't block out a list of numbers like LA will for builders.

well yes you are right I have actually a lot less than 100 hours on my new GTR, but what the topic here is the boats not motors. I got my first boat when I was 10 and I'm now 30. The longest period that I ever went without a boat was about 6 months. Every boat I ever had was aluminum without flotation and I have never sunk a boat or even come close. As far as my comment about GD engines and their motors, they are dinosaurs any one with half a brain could look at one and figure that out. I would rather enjoy my boating experience than getting my ass kicked by a motor without reverse, power trim, or neutral. And if the flotation is such a great thing, how come there is so many threads about people removing the foam from GD hulls.

you stated that GT boats dont need foam because they are designed and built for "shallow water applications". this must mean that everytime you launch your boat and ride to these "shallow water applications" you are using your boat for applications in which they where not designed nor built for. how is this safe to use a boat in ways it was not designed nor built for?
