Re: What do yall think about this??
In my opinion, it does not work. You might be able to use it sparingly to fill small holes, but for "fabrication" work, it will not penetrate well enough compared to a weld. I experimented with the stuff a couple of years back to see if the applications were similar to welding and they are not. If you have fabrication work that needs to be done, take the boat to a professional and get it done right. Furthermore, if you are not careful with the rods, you run the risk of blowing a hole in the aluminum, due to aluminum's low melting point.

If you do it right, it works. Getting it hot enough and tinning it is the key, I did a crack in my boat where the bow is pulled together about 4 inches long, I made a patch a couple inches longer than the crack and about 3 inches wide with holes drilled in it for the braze to seep in. I've beached it a bunch of times since then (that's how the crack got there) and it hasn't budged. I brazed 2 pieces of aluminum together messing around, and I broke the aluminum trying to get the braze to break.

Get mapp gas if you can instead of propane also, works quicker and you can heat a larger area, gets a lot hotter.

Any of you ever use Z-spar? Works quite well. Buddy hit a pole and punched a 3 inch hole in his boat, we zsparred it in the river, patched it, waited an hour, drove home. Was going to be a temp fix, however 4 years later it is still as good as new.

Re: What do yall think about this??
It works. I ordered it off of Ebay. A small kit with 10 rods ,dvd and 2 tinning brushes. Tryed it last night. Drilled a 1\4" hole in a piece of .63 sheet and filled it in no problem. I then but "welded" 2 pieces together making a tee, couldn't break it apart. Also lap jointed with same results. I know this won't take the place of tig, but it is a quick and easy fix for small leaks, which is what I bought it for. One thing I did find out which in my mind is a plus, if you don't like the way something turned out just heat it back up and take it apart. Good stuff IMO.
