I finally got my first duck boat guys im turning 16 in a few days and i finally did it. Its nothing fancy but its something that is finally mine, its a 14 by 48 flat boat with a 23 go devil long tail. I would love to get some advice from any of you guys on things i might need to add and maybe some advice on learning to drive it vs. a standard outboard.

congrats just don't try to climb that ribbed hull over cypress knees, years ago I found out the hard way that rather than sliding off they tip over, not fun in 2" icy water.

Congratulations on your first boat, duckboy. I'll bet it feels good after saving up for it so long. My suggestion for you is to spend a lot of time out in the boat during the warm summer. Find out exactly what the boat will do and exactly what the limitatons are. For instance, you don't want to discover for the first time the swamping point of your boat when the air is in the 30s and the water in the 50s. Wear your motor kill switch.

Get yourself a push pole straigtaway. Carry a paddle or two in the boat for if you have engine problems. If you are wiring up for some accessories make sure you throw in a bilge pump especially if you might ever get on big water. Familiarize yourself with that 23 horse motor and carry a tool kit to be able to do simple repairs.

Most of all, have fun!
