I am new at mud motors and I need one on my boat due to grass and what not. I have a 1444 express Jon with aluminum deck and gun box. I am looking at a 23 mini HD mud buddy ( original balance drive). With power tilt and clutch. Would that motor be too much for my rig? And what about speeds with no load. Thanks for any input!! |

I assume its a used motor. If so put it on you hull and run it to see. |

Got a buddy that was runnin a 23 LA Special (23 Mini with clutch, trim, & big blade, plus 32" outdrive instead of 27") on a 1442 or 1448 Alweld. Boat did real well with it. 3 ppl, it ran about 23-24 bone stock. I say go for it, then in 6 months, go ahead and get a mud boat hull like the rest of us did. ![]() |
