Has anyone hunted with these in the marsh? Varable tides when going and coming back from the blinds. How the trim operate and what is involved with change elevations? |

I have a 23 gdsd and I hunt it in the marsh and it dose well. 2 guys dogs and gear 22 mph. I have no answer to your tide ? due to living in the midwest on the other hand its easy to trim the motor basically you dial the trim in and forget it on the new motors you have a quick trim lever that will lower the motor 4 to 5 inches so when you get in the bind situations you can bump and grind then lift it back to your dial in position. |

I have it on a 15x46 tracker w pods to help weight and take off to get on plane. I love the motor and the customer service when calling w questions. Coco is hands down a pleasure to deal with. Have had no problems and its an easy motor to service on your own. |

If you dont mind pushpoling every time you need to back up along with having to lift it out of the water everytime you want to stop you shouldn't have any problems. Just be sure you carry a cuttin torch and pipe wrenches with you at all times in the event you need to change a prop while out in the swamp....I hear that can be some fun! ![]() ![]() I would look at other brands that offer more user friendly options if i were you! |

Neutral = clutch problems in my book as well as electric trims nothing but problems. As for reverse if you know how to drive right who needs reverse go over it. |

As the owner of a gd i can tell you stuff does break and go out. If that has not happen to you then man your lucky, but it has for me and just about every other guy on here no matter what motor you run. I would lover reverse! A clutch wont burn up if you use it right. I have had a throttle cable break, starter go out, key switch want to stop working, and many more things, so go devil is nice but it still breaks as well. |

I run a 35GDSD at work, and one thing i recommend is that if you buy a gd brand is to keep a rope tied to the floor so that when push poling backwards you can tie the motor handle down keeping it from hanging up. In my opinion Warren makes durable motors. As of this morning I have 484 hrs on it, I put it in the louisiana swamp nearly everyday and I can tell you they are reliable. This doesnt mean I havent had to do some work on it, I'm just saying they'll get the job done without all that fancy stuff like the other motors have. Warren has been around a long time and makes things simple for a reason. They are easier to work on and parts are less expesive. By the way for all those who need reverse and cant push pole out, thats what they make winches for ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: GDSD? |
Get ready.... Warren really doesn't make sht besides a shaft and a platform with some holes in it, and a bolt to pivot on. Briggs makes the motors, so besides a few very basic moving parts, there's nothing to a GD. Sure, they are durable. So are rocks. You like a couple of razor blades swinging around at 800 rpm's behind you, gunnel level at a busy launch with other boats around? Get something at least with neutral. Force GD to update to at least a safe standard. I would much rather hit reverse than fight a winch and cable. That's just retarded. |

blah blah blah, They all fukin break and they all have good and bad points. I run a GDSD and when I bought mine I just wanted simple. My next one will probably have neutral and maybe reverse. That's not saying I'm unhappy. ![]() |

OK sounds good so besides the neutral and reverse, as far as going through the mud its the prop design that matters the most, the prop dosent know what is turning it rather it be a gdsd or a gtr. |

I love my GDSD But I will beat this boat to death on stumps for 2 yrs and sell it to some poor sole on craigslist. The Gt are very lite which means more spead. But GD's have been around since 75 and I'm all about hookin locals up and puttin money In back into our towns. I like the cavitation plate but nuetral doesn't mean that much. I will say Iwill never own a PD though. But my next one will pry be a GT |
