Had my ass pucker up in the middle of the swamp a little more than I like yesterday when my motor wouldn't spin over, so I think ima go ahead and get me a new battery and use my old one as a spare. I'm thinking of going optima but not sure bout it. Which ones are ya'll using as your main engine battery? ![]() |

oh yea I run a dual battery setup for that very reason. one for the troll motor and winch, and the other cranking. Being out in the marsh and turning that key and just hearing that solenoid click and getting no crank is one sucky feelin. I just run the walmart exide deep cell trolling marine batteries. Plenty enough cca for cranking and I rotate them to the troll motor every so often. 1 year warranty but mine have lasted several years. |

kinda off topic but is there anyway to hook both batterys to the motor but use one for regular stuff then other for trolling and winch but still be able to charge both from the motor? |

Willet the problem with hooking up the two batteries together is that when one wears down the other charged battery will try to charge the worn down battery. Do that long enough without charging them regularly you wind up with 2 dead batteries. With deisel truck, they run two batteries and say change them out at the same time because of the discharge problem. |

If you get a bigger battery, get an AC Delco Voyager. Mine have always lasted at least 5 years and I have only replaced them as a precaution, not because they died. I don't see any advantages to Optimas unless you have to mount it sideways. |

I have a place here local that rebuilds batteries. You might check and see if there was someone local that rebuilds batteries. I have been buying batteries for everything from tractors to lawnmowers with no problems. 6mo warranty and half the cost of "new" battery at WM. ![]() I would think that a large size lawnmower/garden tractor battery would work if you are just using it for cranking. I mean after all it is a lawnmower engine we are talking about ![]() |

exide or everstart. I hate wally world but buy them just because of convenience and their lax return policy. most times they last 3 years. never had any trouble. if you are on the road, there is usually a walmart in any town. if it craps out, take it in, if its not past warranty you get a discount. |
