I use both Lowrance (personal) and Garmin handhelds (work). I originally bought the lowrance so that I can use if I'm not fishing out of my boat (which has lowrance head units in it) and save the wayponits to the sd card which can be transfered to the units in my boat. I find the H2O is more userfrienly IMO because you can make a route on the handheld where as with Gamin 60CSX you have to make a route on the computer then transfer it to the gps. The Gamin is pretty neat in that you can save the trail you made and when returning to the computer you can upload your trail to google earth and see where you went in satelite imagery. I find the H2O takes a little longer to lock in on the satelites where as the Garmin is realitively quick. As far as mapping I prefer mapcreate for running the marsh and coastal areas which is only supported by Lowrance I think? Garmin uses mapsource which aint bad but its not as good mapcreate. If your putting just lake maps on it I think but will support the major mapping software like hotmaps and navionics but double check me on that. |

I've heard the delorme is badazz, but never used one. I have an H2O, works great for me. I don't do a whole lot on the computer with it. Just use it to mark trails through the stump fields... |

I use a garmin oregon. Touch screen, pretty easy to use. Still works covered in water and fish slime. Eats batteries though. |

I have a Garmin Oregon 200 and I like it. Pretty much all GPS's are the same as far as functioning goes. Once you learn to use one, you learned them all. |

Had a Magellan Explorer, something hit it and broke the screen, it was a very simple gps, nothing fancy, just what you need pretty much. Just got a Garmin Etrex for xmas, I'll let you know how it works. |
