was wondering if any of you know of something I can put on the carpet to keep it from sticking to the boat. I just kind of find it a pain in the a$$ to have to manualy push it off the trailer or back the truck in so far the truck tires hit the water and trailer is completly submerged before it breaks free does anyone else have this problem? thanks in advance ![]() |

Carpet bunks around here are freezing to the bottom of the boat, Radikkle had to bust his loose the other day cause it was stuck. Cold enough there to be freezing on you? |

My trailer came with a pvc type material on the bunks, not carpet. I've seen some trailers with strips on their bunks to help the boat slide off. Twice I've witnessed the boat sliding off the trailer on the ramp before reaching the water. |

def don't wont it that slick just want the pressure from the boat to be able to float off freely when hitting the water |

You can buy some bunk covers that you screw into the wood. I built some for a trailer once out of uhmw. It was about 1/2" thick and I countersunk the screws where they would'nt gouge into the bottom of the boat. I figure the store bought kind are pretty pricey. I would see if I could find some strips or scrap pieces and make some. X2 on what Skipr said. You will need to keep the winch locked on the boat cause it will slide off the trailer like a greasy eel. |

Just take the carpet off the bunks. I only put carpet on the side guide bunks. Bair 2x6 laid flat for the bunks. |

a heavy coating of spray silicone on the carpet will do the trick, just be careful unhooking the boat before you are over the water.... |

I put glyde slicks on my bunks to keep the hull from freezing to the bunks in the winter. They screwed down right over the carpeting. Work reqally well and only took me about 15 minutes to do. |

thanks guys I'll look into some of this but I launch by myself sometimes so don't want it too slick but then again I can just get used to unhooking the wench when I hit the water |

Just remember, when you come back in, you'll be trailering it by yourself too. |

Liquid Rollers! http://www.google.com/search?q=liquid+r ... CC4QrQQwAA I have used it with all of my big fiberglass boats as well as my drive-on jet dock. Works like a charm, cheap and lasts a long time! Just be careful or you will end up with your boat sitting in the road somewhere or on the boat ramp ![]() |
