Drove a pro drive the other day and fell in love with it. Jw, what is yalls opinions on them, and keep the shit talking to a minimum if you don't know or hav never drove one please don't comment, noone cares if your is better blah blah blah. I like Gator tail equally, Kyles a real good guy, but the pro drive drove alot better than the gtr. How reliable are pro drives? Which boat do y'all think they would perform best on? I'll be going through lots of stumps, hard bottom shallow stuff, lots of marshes, soft mud, really just about it all. |

Yeah that what it was on it's a 36 pd on a 1854 it was a buddy chris francis's boat. I loved it we drove all in pecan Island with it. There was a gator tail in grand cheneir In a lease in Miami Corp that we drove to the blind I didint get to drive it but it seemed like a nice motor too |

YOu won't be disappointed with any motor you buy because all of them are so up tp date and coming out with new stuff that you can't go wrong with any choice, but PD and GT are both equally good motors with good manufacturers |

If you go with the Prodrive I'd recommend the hydraulic reverse. I used to use on with ratchet reverse and it was handy but I use my PUsh Pole a lot less with the hydrualic. |

Yeah that's a good point take em gator.. And yeah I'd definTly have the hydraulic reverse. Idk honestly ill probably get whatever I can that is cheap enough it will more than likely be a mud buddy too seeing that they are so popular down here. What are yalls views on the mud buddies? Anything i should look out for. Are they capable of going through as mch as the gator tails? |

All I'm gonna say is when you get a stuck it's nice to be able to put it in reverse, back up a little and hit it again. Instead of gettin out da boat to drag it back or waitin for sumone to come alone and pull you out. |

Wait and start looking right after duck season is over. They have allota ppl that buy these rigs and realize they dont need them and put for sale at the end of the season. Look around and you will prolly be able to find a good deal. IMO i would go with a motor with reverse. I dont use mine that much but sure am happy to have it when i need it. |

Get a motor with reverse for sure. I own a PD and love it. If you want a great all around boat get a 18' x 42" skiff. They will go through anything exspecially thick lillies if you have that in your area. |

I've only had mine for 35 hours, but I am sold on it already. I would not have it without the power reverse and power trim. |

Post subject: | Re: Pro drives. Need opinions. |
Yeah I like the reverse.. But for the price on what I've seen on somewhat local classifieds.. I can't justifiy spending 2000 more so i don't have to get out and push a little.. If i had a little more money, yeah I would. I just wNt something a little more convinient than the longtail I've got. That's all really. Then again, if im gonna go ahead and get a loan for that much money, why not get something nicer with reverse? I'm torn between two lovers and feeling like a fool.. Lol |

prodrive is the best if you like goin backwards. gator-tail is the best goin forward. godevil is the best if you like simplicity, low maint.& reliability. mudbuddy is real good for doing something but i cant think of what it is. lay off the coffee and take a valium, stick with your longtail dude, speed is over rated! ![]() |

Hydro Reverse. A MUST 20" transom. A MUST (actually go 19) Reliability : A problem that occurred with the PD's was the bottom seals. It has since been Modified, and improved. The motors a damn near the same thing. Just different direction shaft. As far as the clutch: if you don't always dump the clutch (rev upland engage) you will get maximum life. I've abused mine, and had to change After 250 hours. So, they can take a good bit of abuse. |

The 19" does not affect the performance, but allows more water trust to travel under boat when engaged in FULL POWER REVERSE.. |

Can you put a pro drive in reverse with a hunt deck on your boats? |
Author: | UNCLE-J [ Mon Jan 03, 2011 10:41 am ] |
Post subject: | Re: Pro drives. Need opinions. |
Yes.. But, you have to do a angled hunt deck. |

Will it perform better with or without one? |

[quote="UNCLE-J"] As far as the clutch: if you don't always dump the clutch (rev upland engage) you will get maximum life. quote] Actually dat's entirely true. I throw my rpm"s up to 4200 while dumpin da clutch in and out, and goin from reverse to forward wit out ever bringin my rpm"s down. I've seen it smoke before but I have never had to replace my clutch. When you engage da blades on your ridin lawnmower do you bring your rpm's down first?.....No or at least I don't. |

I love my 27 PD after a put a 12v fuel pump on it. My buddy has a 23 mb with mods and mine is way faster. Only wish I had a 36 instead of the 27. |

36 is what i drove and I loved it it suprised me on what it was actually capable of and that it was on a junk 1854 ribbed old flatbottom, I could only imagine what it would be capable of on a nice hull |

I never needed one... I added one with the mods, but didn't have to. Didn't change anything. |

What's a good price for a 1648 pro drive boat 2 gun boxes and 2 split seats with storage with a 27 pd on the back with around 40 to 50 give or take hours on it? |

Post subject: | Re: Pro drives. Need opinions. |
It's a good deal but YOU need a bigger boat. With all of the people you normally pile up in that jon boat you'll probably want a 20'x72". |

Lol we've actually had more than the morning you saw us. A bigger boat will Definatly be on the list hopefully about a 18x48 with a 36 if I dnt get the 16 pro drive I'm looking at |

BRASSO a little off subject and i dk how much money you are looking to spend but i know where a nice GT setup can be had. its an uncle-j hull with the new 35 GTR CDI motor. has like 50 hrs on it. the boat is an 1854 with a camo designs paint job. my buddy bought it and now he is looking to by a house so he needs to relieve some funds. i dont know what he wants for the boat motor and trailer but i can find out. the hole rig is about 4 or 5 months old. |
