Not tryin to start a pissin match here but how deep a' water do you need to be in before you can start out in a PD? I am talkin about a hard bottom. I always ran longtails and pd aint very popular up here where I live. I have owned a MB sd last year and it had problems in places the longtail did not. Gettin a boat built soon and I aint made my mind up yet on the brand I will be puttin on it. The bottoms we run are mostly hard bottoms and the soft bottoms would be about calf deep mud mostly. |

It all depends on the boat, how fat your ass is, and how much water your drafting. |

It will be a 1848 boat. My azz is 225. I am not sure how much it will draft. Just lookin for a close ballpark figure |

I run a 20 x 48 with 36 PD and catch hell with a hard bottom where I did not with a longtali. Just the nature of the beast. Hunted a hole last week where we brought 2 boats. Mine to carry all the junk and and run more than 15 mph and a long tail to put all the junk in once we got to the hard bottom. i can start out in a hard bottom with about 4 inches of water i have to trim the motor up get the rpms up and then trim down as the boat begins to move. anything less than about 4 inches i have to dig a hole or get out and push the boat to deeper water |

i have an 1854 with 35 GTR and i weigh 240. i need about 4 or 5 inches of water with hard bottom to get her up and going. and thats eating my prop up a little bit. if you are getting an 1848 i think you will be somewheres in that ball park. |

4"-6" over hard sand bottom, but it doesn't take much to get out and walk the boat if you want to save the prop. |
