Post professional boat painting
I've got a 17x60 aluminum boat thats in need of a new paint job. I know most of you are going to say just paint it yourself, but I really want it done right. I've painted a boat before and did all the cleaning, priming, multi-step painting and I really don't want to do it again. Not to mention I don't have the means of getting my 70hp yamaha off my boat or my boat off my trailer because of sheer weight.

Do you guys know of anyone who paints flat boats for a reasonable price? I thought about calling gator trax and some of those guys to see about it. I just want a good OD green or maybe camo paint job that is going to last a long time and I don't have to worry about scraping off with every little thing that touches it.

Any suggestions?

If you can get them to do it ProDrive has some of the best OD green paint

It takes ALOT to get scratches in it and havent seen one yet that needs new paint job

PD painted my skiff. I really liked the way the paint job held up on my PD boat so I got them to paint the boat, plus is matches the same green as my engine.

Thanks for the responses, I think I've got some good options now so I'll try and get in touch with the people yall mentioned.
I'm mostly interested in getting a good base layer that I won't have to worry about scratching off all the time, the previous owner put a new paint job on the interior just before I bought the boat. It looks ok, and I think he did all the right prep etc, but it just didn't go on thick enough I guess. It doesn't flake or anything, just scratches easily like from pirogues rubbing on it, or decoy bags etc..
The camo will just be an added bonus. Sounds like all these guys do good with both the base layer and the camo stuff...

Do yall know if camo designs, or any of the others mentioned, are going to scrape the original paint off and start from scratch, or are they just going to paint over the factory layer?

Sandman, so apparently that was ur airboat in his shop at the same time my brother hull was being painted. My hull was painted right before the storms, and my motor was painted right after.
Ricky does a good job painting and his prices are reasonable.

How about a local body shop? Any auto body place would be able to do it for you. I would have it sandblasted and then painted.

Just talked to Ricky at Camo Designs, real nice fella. Sounds like he does a great job, I'm definitely planning on going with them in the near future once I get the floors and everything put back in my boat.

He mentioned that they do a powder coat type enamel layer that gives it a tough texture and is supposed to last a long time. Anyone have any experience with what he's talking about?
