Post Atchafalaya River Flooding Impressive: ViewFrom I-10 Bridges
I drove from Lafayette to Baton Rouge yesterday to eat dinner at Sullivans and was awed by the view of the flooded Atchafalaya from the I-10 bridges. The current was fast and the river loaded with debris. Whirlpools everywhere. On the North side of the elevated span nearest the eastern outside protection levee there was a very strong current going in a Northerly direction like the water level had just topped a ridge or something. The current was like rapids in a mountain river. This is certainly backwater flooding.
