Ok I figure the new pd 36 with automatic reverse has been out long enough to get an opinion from ppl who have them. So are they a waste of money? More trouble then their worth? Must have? etc

I don't have one but the people I know who have it love it and say they use reverse now more than before.

Best money you will ever spend, with the exception of the money spent on a prodrive.

FPR is the main reason I went with a ProDrive. It does not disappoint!

Are you interested in a center console driven or tiller handle rig?

I think those with the center console would agree that automatic is the only way to go. After using the manual reverse on my tiller handle, I don't lose too much time operating it that way.

Hydro- reverse is the way 2 go, tiller R remote steer. It is an option u should not do without. It does draw a lot of battery, so the CDI motor is almost needed due to the power draw at idle. A friend of mine killers 3 batteries frogging a couple weeks ago wif 2 headlights and using reverse all night at isle to catch 75 frogs.

if you have a center console i would get it but hand tiller go with rachet i have seen wear the automatic reverse wouldnt go all the way around because of the mud wouldnt allow it where as the rachet has to go

The ones I have seen seam like they have to trim them up before the spin them around!!

Poodo 3 batteries in one night of frogging!! Dam might want to just bring a generator and a battery charger might be a lighter load than 10 batteries!!

I personally don't have the auto reverse, but a few the guys I run with do and It will definitally be an option on my next motor.

And 3 batteries!! Mercy!!

Post subject:  Re: Prodrive 36 FPR?

The battery issue isn't an issue wif the CDI motors. After asking more questions, sounds like the guy that ate 3 batteries while frooging had other issues with the charging system on a non-CDI motor.

On another note, PD boats r built where the engine doesn't have 2 b trimmed 2 put n reverse. I have to trim my engine a little 2 keep the prop off the hull. This is an issue wif auto r manual reverse.

It goes back to having a boat built to your engine specs. My boat was built 14 years before I got a PD, so I trim up a little as I spin it to reverse. If my transom was 1/2" shorter, it would be perfect.

Is it worth it? I mean it just money you'll make more lol.

Can it be broken, yes it can, its nice for center consoles but its even nicer not having to put your beer done to rachet while frogging.

people seem to forget about FPS(full power sideways)

I think people have summed it up well. CC- it is a must ( I have a CC and I have had it with and without hydro) You will use your reverse all the time with hydro, and only when you have to with the tiller. It is expensive, but if you have the cash, it is worth it IMO.

I used one battery for each motor. No problems. In fact, due to the new charging system keepin the batteries at 99% of charge, the last dual only had one battery.

The option is a great option for the lazy man. I Like it!!!
