Re: who was REALLY the first with a surface drive????
IMO. Just to settle this dispute they should just say gt was the first with instant reverse, mb was the first with neutral and gd was the first barbaric surface drive with no user friendly options

He said, she said. I could SAY that I could fly. Those who have met me can really laff at that. I gotta have some serious horsepower to ge me off the ground. I agree the only folks that give a dang are the ones using the comments for marketing. I'm gonna run what I like and don't give a darn if Santa Claus built the first one. Not trying to start anything but I just don't think that statement is a decision maker for folks in the market for a motor.

Re: who was REALLY the first with a surface drive????
So if Gatortail sued Mudbuddy, and Godevil, did they also sue BOgHOg, Beavertail, Copperhead, Orion? Just curious how this patent infrigment will pan out with all these rubberband manufacturers. How can all these other manufacturers make such a similar product and not be tied up in litigation the same as Mudbuddy. Way I see it, the small companies not an economic threat, so they get left alone, but hey whats fair is fair, if you right , pick on all the manufacturers, not just the two bigger ones. Or just stop spending money on Lawyer fees and court costs, and put that money in new designs and innovations. Wow this is the FIRST time I voice my opinion on this matter on here. imagine that

Re: who was REALLY the first with a surface drive????
I was actually just comparing the belt driven sd's. I know pro-drive was around first and they are gear driven so I left them outta the debate

Re: who was REALLY the first with a surface drive????
Patents are easy to get by! All u have to do is change up a few things mechanically and it's over. Look at duck calls, all are made about the same but u have to have a specific ID to call it yours. People do it all the time. If you couldnt do that, it would be a monopoly and that's illegal too!
