i have a PD has anyone run their trim switch and tach up to their grab bar? Id like to have it there so I can trim the motor while facing forward. I really wouldnt mind having a trim switch on there and on the control panel. Is that possible?

it can be done but you will need to use relays. their trim uses a ground to switch power back and forth. go to a boat salvage and find a old merc tilt and trim relay pack and you will be good to go. the only one out their that doesn't need a relay pack is the m.b. with the merc tilt trim unit.

I could be wrong but I don't think they use relays. Just a really heavy duty switch. Sportsman's Guide has a heavy duty outboard trim switch, like you put up front by the trolling motor, that a lot of people have been using with goog success. That way you can mount it on the handle right behind the twist throttle. Use the search feature because there was a good thread that covered this. I think it was Coastal's idea.

if he is going to run two switches he will need a relay pack. u have to take away the ground from the other switch or he will have to grow a third arm. on my older engine i bought my merc trim relay pack at a boat salvage for 15 bucks and i also got the little trim switch off the cowling off of two motors and mounted a trim on the bow and one on the blower housing so i can trim up and use the mudbuddy side mounted lock system that way i don't have to reach foward to the tiller handle to lock it or unlock it on my new engine. on the new mudbuddys with the merc trim u don't need a relay pack u can mount as many trim switches as u want.
