 48 vs 54 width?
Looking at pd boats and was wondering which would be the better choice in a 18 ft the 48 or 54 width either or powered by a 36 pd

 Re: 48 vs 54 width?
1848 is probably the best all around rig. You would be happy with it.

 Re: 48 vs 54 width?
If you got a hard bottom in your area go wider hull to help draft less.......if its a soft bottom I think u probly like the 48 just fine
I like em wide but that's just me......they not for eveybody.

 Re: 48 vs 54 width?
Given that choice, 48 is tough to beat for an all around width.

 Re: 48 vs 54 width?
I went with the 54 for added stability while fishing. I can say on thing, it is a stable mofo. When we bowfish, two guys on the front deck moving around and you don't fell tippy at all.

 Re: 48 vs 54 width?
Go big or go home thats how I see it. They had someone on the old fourm can't remember his name had an 18x54 pd running about 28.5 with a center console. That was a nice looking rig too.

 Re: 48 vs 54 width?
If you are going to fish a lot, get the wider boat. Especially if you are only running the marsh. That is unless you have to fit between trees, or run by yourself a lot and like brag about being 1-2 mph faster than the next pom-pom waving, kool-aid drinking slapdick.

 Re: 48 vs 54 width?
I got an 18x48 center console with a 32pd and i love it. I go through some skinny places to get to the redfish. With 3 ppl and fishing gear I run about 23mph(according to GPS) shallow water I hit about 24.5mph. I really dont think you could go wrong with any of the 2 choices.

 Re: 48 vs 54 width?
Got an 1848 and like it just fine. Just make sure you get a tell transom. Now, the 48 is super rad, but dont expect walking around in it to be like walking on solid ground. If you're a sugarfoot...get the 54"

 Re: 48 vs 54 width?
I have an 1848 and like it. I wasnt sure if i would at first, thought it might be a little too narrow but i dont think it is now. Carries a load pretty good and is still good cutting through the cypress and ditches. The 54 would be a good choice but i have seen some of my padnas stuggle running through the narrow ditches that we often run.
