The longer shaft designed MMs do well on a GD hull like MB GT GD... The PD does not favor the rolled rear transom design used by GD hulls and the transom angle is off a bit from the optimal PD transom angle... |

Any motor you can imagine has been put on a 16x44 Go-Devil. It will get you to the blind and back but it's best to match hulls and motors. |

I have a 1644 GD round chine that ran 25 w a load 27 one time w my gdsd. My MB hyperdrive ran32 w me and 27-28 w load. My MB sport runs 27-28 w a load also but don't know about no load yet. Turns awesome but would like bigger ride |

i have had quite a success with my 36 prodrive on my 16'x48'' go devil boat... the only thing i had to do is weld two tabs on the back of the boat to keep it from riding on the angled part of the boat wherethe transom and the floor meet .... |

I had a 16x44 GD with a 31 MB Balanced Hyper on it and I had no complaints. I was running in the mid to upper 20's. I added wedges to the bottom of the boat and it really helped with the back end squatting while running. After the wedges, I was bumping 30. I know wedges don't solve the squatting problems on all boats, but from what I've seen, the 16x44 is a good candidate for them. |

i run a gtr 35 on a gd 1656 - runs great & very happy w/ setup overall. high transom model on hull & engine. get a little porpoising w/ light load & by myself, but nothing horrible - move weight or trim down a bit. had a friend that thought the engine should be mounted a touch higher b/c there's tiny bit of spray from the belt drive housing, but i think it's fine. brand new & empty, hit ~29. me & friend & normal hunt load ~25 -and i've got round chines - slower but no sliding in turns & better mud control. if i ever get a new rig, i'd go 18', not sure on width (until i ride my friends 1860 gt). the only complaint on mix match to me is not having a single point of service. not trying to jack the thread, but i'm wondering on mud control with round chine vs stepped hull chine. i have personally felt the difference on round vs tapered - and to me, round's far, far superior. anyone? thx |
