Hi, I just registered here but I have been reading this site for a few months researching info on what motor to buy. Well being new to this I liked the concept of less maintnance and better reliability of the gdsd. And I liked the look of the prodrive boats but decieded on getting a gd boat because I read that a matched combo yields best results. So I purchased a new 35hp on a 18 ft.Well I have had this rig for two months now and hate it. The shaft broke the first time I took it out. They did fix it while I waited the next day and said it must have been defective. But then when I got back home I noticed the motor bracket that mounts to the transom is cracked. So I had to take another day off of work to go back to godevil and get that fixed. Thought things were good after that. Well except for the fact that the boat sucks with two people and a hunting load. Barely gets on step. Well then last weekend came along. Out teal hunting and trim wheel froze up on me (think it's bent) so I spent a good bit of the mourning stuck about 50 yards in front of my duck blind causing me to miss the main flight. This thing is a piece of shat!!!! Not a big internet kind of guy but I am so pissed off I had to vent. Hopefully this will help someone else from making the same mistake I did.

A situation like this is obviously unsatisfactory. I've PMed bloodyfeathers for the serial number of the unit and would like to know who at GD did the work. GD keeps track of who completes each major assembly during construction and records of all follow-on repairs. Since I'm big on reliability I want to make sure that Coco isn't letting quality control slip.

Dam man, with all that going on, made me wonder if the rig had been backed into something.

BTW, PD has matched combos...good luck

That definitely sucks. Get rid of it and get yourself a ProDrive or GTR.

I call BS and there has to me more to this. I have seen plenty of GDSD on 18 and 20ft boats move a big load and not dog down. I ahve even seen a 36 pd on a 1660GD hull move on and run a BIG load.
