 Glades
Question for anyone running a Mud rig in the Everglades. I have been thinking about buying a Mud Rig to fish the areas of the marsh that can't be reached with an outboard. Have any of you fished in the marsh in the Glades and do you think it's worth the investment.
Thanks in advance for any info.

 Re: Glades
i dont know what its like down there but look at it this way... if your not worried about being as fast as an outboard, anywhere a fish can go, you can go with a mm rig

Check out www.unitedwaterfowlersfl.org. Most of the guys are in central or south Florida. They are very knowledgable about south Florida especially.

 Re: Glades
Hi Stu, I already replied to you in a PM but in case anyone else wants to know this for future reference, here it is. Almost all bass boats that I've seen stick to the main canals with the exception of a few trails in the marsh that are deep enough for them to get in. This if course only happens when the water is high enough. I've never seen anyone bass fishing deeper into the marsh where I usually duck hunt but I'm only out there during duck season. So perhaps some people go out there during the off season and I haven't seen it.
The best advice I could give you in choosing a rig for the Glades is this. If you're going to strictly bass fish, get a bass boat with an outboard but if you're even going to consider duck hunting at all, get a mud rig. My last duck boat had an outboard on it and it was a struggle from the moment I took it out to the second I came back to the dock and I was only able to hunt near the main marsh openings because the weeds would completely choke up the prop and overheat the outboard. Now with my mud rig and can pretty much go where ever I want without giving too much thought to it.

 Re: Glades
Just to second what he said , get a mud rig if you can so your not so limited down there , I've got alot of friend that hunt the glade and I've been hunting down there for over 25 years with my family , water depth plays a big role in what an outboard can do and you will be limited.

Again I appreciate the advice. I'm going to stay with what I have until I get the itch to start hunting. Thanks for all the advice.
