new duck plucker, mf! - i'm not sure why it needs to be on a gas engine (unless you ain't got power), but it looks pretty good to me if you have a decent sized camp & take a fair amount of birds. i had some friends looking for a plucker last year & there really were not that many options we could find. i bet people asked coco to make it...check it out. Go-Devil Manufacturers is pleased to offer the new Go-Devil Duck Picker for this upcoming season. The Go-Devil Duck Picker consists of a Briggs & Stratton engine combined with a duck picking head to quickly and easily remove all of the feathers from your ducks. Order yours today for $295 plus shipping (or i'd think free pickup in baton rouge). & |

I couldn't have that at home. My yard would look like and sandersons farm chicken ranch after a tornado hit. |

Since I only take the breast meat I personally don't see a need for this thing. I can still breast a bird faster than that thing can pluck. |

Got a buddy who works for Sunland and I get some from him every once in a while. Someone at the camp bought a bunch of that candle making wax so it gets thrown in the pot too. |

I agree with you sir on teal birds being the best eating, and normally I do pick them. |

I have a chicken plucker I use for our chickens and ducks. It's got a chute that goes into a 55 gal barrel instead of having feathers flying all over the place. I'll be damned if you can hand dip and pluck faster than one of these. By the time you get the wax up to temp you could have most of the ducks plucked. |

That thing is just a little overkill, isn't it? Did it really need a gas motor? I guess it needs the extra HP that the electric doesn't provide ![]() Plucking ducks isn't that hard. I breast em if I'm feeling lazy, but a nice plucked duck is really the best way to go. More meat and it's more tender when you cook it in the skin in my opinion. What's the deal with the wax? I'm living in the stone age plucking them by hand... |

You dip them in wax then peel the wax off and the feathers come with it. |

They just need to make an attachement for the GD motor. Take the prop off and put the plucker on. At least you could get some use out of the motor that way................. ![]() |

And yet another reinvented wheel, with no neutral, reverse, or accessories. Times must be tough at ol' GD, resorting to kitchen machinery and all. ![]() |

Wax gets birds very clean. It gets a lot of the pin feathers on mallards that are hard to pick clean. |

To save on wax useage, clip the wings off the bird before you dip them. |

i've done the wax & it does very well (ducks come out like a fresh, hot chick's ass), but to me, waxing is a pretty long process. where i did it, they had a dedicated tub for the wax & then you need a crawfish burner & propane. i think the plucker is pretty much a gimmick, but if you're taking a lot of birds, have the $ to blow & want 'em cleaned whole bird, it can make sense. |

has anyone bought the new go devil duck plucker? i am /my buddies camp is looking for a review/thinking about getting one or the industrial chicken plucker/barrel deal. with the industrial barrel, you still have to scald the birds, rt - so that's another time sucker/work effort - rt? thanks |

Pharrel---no need to scald ducks before putting them through the commercial tumbler/plucker. The scalding is only necessary for chickens and turkeys. |
